Day 4 | 77 miles

Image
Another great day. It started out dry, as in not wet from rain that was supposed to come in the early am and didn't. That was great!   Here are some pics from last nights dinner.  This early rising is a natural, I woke up st 5:25 today without an alarm, although it probably has a lot to do with the others around me moving around and zipping.  We had a nice 77 miles today about the same amount of climbing as yesterday except it was backend loaded today. So a lot of the climbing came at the end in the heat. No worries I did fine.  Here is where I had lunch at 10:45 today. A double hamburger and fries. These 2 worked there and were great. They kept getting text messages from their cousin that needed help with her math homework in college and I was giving them the answered and they were amazed that I could do it so quickly. It was basic algebra. Lol.  Here is the senior citizen center in the same small town.  We had to take a ferry across the Tennessee River to...

Day 3 | 81 miles and HOT

It was a hot one today, 90.  I got up around 5:20 this am because of all of the peopl zipping their tents non stop and truthfully it's fine when u go to sleep at 9:00 and actually in my tent around 8:30, that's plenty of sleep.  Plus it allows us to get on the road earlier as well. We have been leaving around 7:15 in the morning.  Today we went to and through Shiloh Military Park. An amazing place, especially with the history there and the number of deaths.  The Catfish Motel is not where I stayed.  Here are a couple of lunch options today.  Here is the inside of Hollys.  We decided on Hollys. It was good. Holly is on the left with her mother the cook. Funny story, this place was starting to get busy wh n we got there and a lot more cyclists on the way. Momma called Holly and told her to get her ass to work, we gonna be really busy today. She walked in the front door and said " Hi I'm Holly". Very nice people and had to take their picture.  Check ...

Another great day, although it has be n hot in the mid 80's. I think we are paying for the unseasonably cool temperatures that we had the prior 2 weeks.  Here are a few sites from today  Small town post office.  Very nice people at this community center. They let us go inside and sit while we ate and drank our sag stop goodies.  Going over the Pickwick Lake dam.  Here is my campsite, waterfront tonight.  Here I am drying out some of my clothes from the humidity the last couple of days. So someof my cycling clothes were still damp and today's was very wet. I also went swimming in the shorts today and they are drying as well.  Dinner at 5:00 and music right now.   Jew from my lakefront home tonight.
